Just a cruisy Sunday run

This morning I ran 1 hour 30 mins exactly. I’m not sure of the distance, as the route that I did is a bit hard to track on MapMyRun (so hoping to get a sportswatch that is distance measuring capable soon!). Currently, I am running around 3 – 4 times a week of mostly 40 – 60 minute runs and very unstructured. This was the longest run I have done so far this year, and felt good but very slow. I have a bit of a niggle on my right shin, and my re-occuring foot injury is in full force. After many visits last year to Doctors, Physio, Sports Doctor, and finally a foot specialist doctor (my saviour!),  the problem has been identified and there is no harm in me running on it, it is just going to be very sore.

This pain had gone away for quite some time, but is now back with a vengeance, but I have an appointment to see this specialist again. But its not until July lol.

I am toying with the idea of a half marathon coming up in 5 weeks time, I will see how things go. I will try for around 5 days of running a week at the moment, as from experience, pushing too hard  too quick only does my body harm (like most others).

I watched the fantastic Lisa Tamati (Ultra Marathon Runner) documentary on running the Bad Water Ultra Marathon this evening which is just inspirational. What a fantastic Kiwi woman she is. This was on the Documentary Channel on Sky, try and check it out if you can, I truly recommend this. Will def get her book soon to find out more on her history and what has bought her to doing these distances.

The Ultramarathon that she ran in extremely high temps was 217km long! Yes – 217 kilometres. Kind of makes me think – well those 42k’s don’t look so bad after all……….but I am still back and forth on that one!
